November 2007: CDRSEE’s expertise lends a practical angle to debate on Balkan history. Recognising once again that practical experience is as important as academic knowledge, the CDRSEE was asked to speak at a conference by the ‘Balkan Observatory’ in Rovereto, Italy on November 9th. Attended by Executive Director, Nenad Sebek, the CDRSEE’s presence at the conference entitled "Bad Memories; sites, emblems and narrations of wars in the Balkans" included a speech and participation in the discussions involving experts from across the Balkans from politics and academia.
23-24th November 2007: Employed, Empowered Round Table 3. Belgrade. Continuing the process started by the first and second roundtables in September/October, the Employed, Empowered participants met again to discuss what kind of training would be most useful to empower disadvantaged groups and allow for access to sustainable income and a legal existence in society. 16 November 2007: CDRSEE identified as example of ‘good practice’ in education and training by the European Training Foundation. Through two of its current projects ‘Employed, Empowered’ and the JHP, the CDRSEE has built up experience and a reputation in the fields of participative, effective and inclusive training and education for the purposes of social inclusion and civil society development. 30 October 2007: JHP roundtable discussion in Zagreb. Echoing the participative and multi-perspective methodology of the JHP workbooks, the JHP project is in itself a democratic process. With this in mind, the CDRSEE and the Croatian Helsinki Committee invited both supporters and critics of the JHP to a roundtable discussion. Click here to read the whole article.
19-20 October 2007: Employed, Empowered Round Table 2. Belgrade.

18 October 2007: Joint History Project press conference and book launch in Zagreb. On October 12th, 2007, the Croatian language edition of the 4 Workbooks was launched in Zagreb with a keynote speech by Dr Erhard Busek, Special Coordinator of the Stability pact for Southeast Europe. | 15 September 2007: Employed Empowered: Successful first Roundtable in Belgrade. “Identifying the Employment gap: vulnerable groups in the labour market”. Characterised by high levels of energy, commitment and participation (49 participants), the first roundtable of ‘Employed, Empowered’ kicked off the strategic planning strand of the project in Belgrade on September 14-15. | 1 September 2007: CDRSEE participates in the annual Alpbach Forum. With the broad theme of ‘Emergence’ as this year’s focus, the European Forum, Alpbach took place between August 16th –September 1st , at which the CDRSEE delivered a speech within the session on ‘Europe as a mediator in the dialogue of civilisations’. | July 2007: CDRSEE forges links with youth civil society organisations-starting with a Dutch Students’ group. As part of a larger drive to twin young people’s organisations across SEE and the EU in the field of active citizenship, the CDRSEE hosted the Dutch UN Students’ Association for a day of discussion, idea sharing and constructive work towards cooperation on projects in the future.

June 2007: International recognition of the CDRSEE’s creative, yet practical approaches to the challenges of conflict and sustainability was once again forthcoming throughout June. Most notably, the CDRSEE was invited to participate in two events, both of which involved intergovernmental and civil society collaboration including both academic and pragmatic looks at the issues of peace, justice, shared values and shared challenges. 2 April 2007: The Joint History Project – Meeting of the Editors. The meeting of the Joint History Project Workbook editors took place between March 31st and April 1st, in Belgrade, Serbia. The meeting provided an opportunity for team members to discuss developments and present and future challenges for the Joint History Project. Following the successful publication of the English, Serbian and Greek language editions, the Workbooks will be published in the Albanian, Bosnian, Croatian, and Macedonian languages. 1 April 2007: Research Survey for Employed Empowered is Launched! The meeting of the research survey team experts took place in Belgrade, on March 30th. The team consists of experts in econometrics and psychology. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the details of the survey of the target group and research on the economic factors and the labour market in Serbia. Read the whole article!

14 Februrary 2007: Teacher Training in Novi Sad, 2-4 February 2007
On 2-4 February the CDRSEE, in cooperation with Euro Clio Serbia and the Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, organised the fourth of a series of Workshops to introduce history teachers to a multi-perspective approach to looking at history. Read the whole article!
