CDRSEE takes part in Alpbach Political Symposium

CDRSEE Executive Director represented the Center in this year’s Political Symposium, titled “Trust Between Individuals and States”, which took place from Sunday, 30 August to Tuesday, 01 September 2009. Mr. Sebek gave a presentation entitled “How Turkish is Your Coffee?” providing for a productive discussion within the panel “Trust between Cultures”. This year’s forum included a great number of prestigious personalities, among them the Secretary-General of the United Nations Ki-Moon Ban.

Also participating were Dr. Erhard Busek (President of European Forum Alpbach, but also Chair of the CDRSEE’s Board of Directors), Benita Ferrero-Waldner (European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy),  Michael Spindelegger (Minister of European and International Affairs for the Republic of Austria), Vaira Vike-Freiberga (Former President of the Republic of Latvia), Martti Ahtisaari (Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Former President of the Republic of Finland), Vitaly Churkin (Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations) and Miroslav Lajcak (Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Slovak Republic), to name only a few.
